<P style="TEXT-ALIGN: center" align=center><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><STRONG><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES></SPAN></STRONG><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></FONT> </P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">El día 13 de julio de 1994 a las 3:00 a.m. aproximadamente, 68 personas de nacionalidad cubana, pesadores, trabajadores del puerto y campesinos, que intentaban salir de la isla con dirección a los Estados Unidos se hicieron a la mar en un viejo remolcador (el"13 de Marzo") .<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Según testigos presenciales que sobrevivieron al naufragio, apenas zarpó el remolcador “13 de Marzo” del puerto cubano, comenzaron a ser perseguidos por dos barcos (Polargo 2 y Polargo3) <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>. A unos 45 minutos del viaje, cuando se encontraba a siete millas de distancia de las costas cubanas - y luego de que trataron primeramente de acorralarlo en un lugar conocido como “La Poceta”-, otra embarcación (Polargo 5) <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>se sumó. Iban equipadas con tanques y cañones de agua. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">La embarcación denominada “Polargo 2” bloqueó por delante al viejo y lento remolcador “13 de Marzo”, mientras la otra embarcación denominada “Polargo 3” la embistió por detrás, partiéndole la popa. Las embarcaciones se ubicaron en los lados laterales (Polargo 3 y Polargo 5) lanzándoles agua a presión -a todas las personas que se encontraban en la cubierta- mediante los cañones que poseían. La presión de los chorros es igual a 1500 Kg f por pulg. cuadrada y utilizaba agua salada extraída del mismo mar. Nunca terminaban los chorros a pesar que las mujeres, dirigiendose por su nombre a los que las trataban de hundir pues todos <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>se conocian pues algunos <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>eran incluso compañeros de trabajo y les enseñaban los niños pidiendo
piedad.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">El clamor de las mujeres y niños que se encontraban a bordo en la cubierta del remolcador “13 de marzo” hizo que los capitanes de algunas de las “Polargo” se comunicaran con la capitania del puerto exlicando la situacion, especialmente la cantidad de niños que habia en la embarcación. La Capitania se comunico con la Jefatura, la cual a su vez establecio contacto con el Ministro de Las Fuerzoas Armadas, el actual Presidente de Cuba, Raul Castro. La Orden fue tajante ¡HUNDANLO, PARA QUE SIRVA DE EJEMPLO! <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Una vez recibida la orden proveniente del propio Raul Castro, ya nada impidió que continuara el ataque. Dicha embarcación fue hundida con un saldo de 37 personas muertas, la mayoria niños.. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>Varias Lanchas Guardafronteras se encontraban en la escena pero se mantenian un poco alejados <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN><SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>contemplando el genocidio. Los sobrevivientes de la tragedia afirman que están vivos por un milagro, pues en el instante en que estaban a punto de morir, aparecio un barco griego <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>y al notar los oficiales de las lanchas guardafronteras que sus tripulantes estaban viendo el hecho, deciden finalmente prestar socorro. Esto vino a estropear el cumplimiento de la orden <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>de no dejar testigos. Gracias al barco griego hay 31 supervivientes. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Los sobrevivientes también afirman que los tripulantes de los tres barcos <SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN><SPAN style="mso-spacerun: yes"> </SPAN>(Polargo 2, 3, 5) no prestaron socorro a las víctimas. Regresaron a sus espigones vacíos. Una vez rescatados, los mismos fueron trasladados al puesto de guardacostas cubano de Jaimanitas, ubicado al oeste de La Habana. De allí, fueron trasladados al Centro de Detención de Villa Marista que también funciona como Cuartel General de la Seguridad del Estado. Las mujeres y los niños sobrevivientes fueron liberados dias después pero los hombres permanecieron detenidos. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman"><STRONG><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES>Negativa del Estado cubano a recuperar los cadáveres de las víctimas </SPAN></STRONG><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></FONT></P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">En los días posteriores al naufragio, familiares de las víctimas que perecieron ahogadas se dirigieron a las autoridades cubanas a fin de rescatar los cuerpos que se encontraban en el fondo del mar. La respuesta oficial fue que no contaban con buzos especializados para rescatar los cadáveres. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">Las autoridades cubanas dicen que no contaban con medios de izaje para sacar a flote la embarcación y rescatar los muertos. El perito dijo a uno de los sobrevivientes (Jorge García Mas) que el remolcador 13 de Marzo estaba hundido en un punto a 3,5 km de profundidad, el sobreviviente le desplegó una Carta Náutica que llevaba consigo e increpó al perito a que buscara esa cota de profundidad en el mapa, cosa que no podía hallar porque la cota mayor en ese sitio el veril no rebasa los 800 metros. Jorge afirma que ellos tenían dos medios importantes para sacar el remolcador: La grúa Pablo Sandoval y la Magnun XII (capaces de izar embarcaciones gigantescas hundidas a mas de 1000 metros ) y que si esa fuera la razón, por qué no le entregaron el cadáver de su nieto que se ahogo en la superficie, o el cadáver de Fidencio Ramel que fue impactado por un chorro de
agua y se ahoga en la superficie, por qué no le entregaron el cadáver de Rosa M. Alcalde a sus familiares, quien sirvió de sostén a muchos sobrevivientes que imaginaron que era una balsa porque ella flotaba. <o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P><SPAN style="mso-ansi-language: ES" lang=ES><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">La Asociación de Buzos Profesionales de Italia ofrecio sus equipos y personal para rescatar los cadáveres, pero la oferta fue rechada por el gobierno de los hyermanos Castro.<o:p></o:p></FONT></FONT></SPAN></P>
<P style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt" class=MsoNormal><SPAN lang=ES><FONT size=3 face="Times New Roman">La organización sin fines de lucro “Hermanos al Rescate” -que se dedica a rescatar a los balseros cubanos que intentan escapar de la isla- solicitó autorización al Gobierno cubano para sobrevolar el lugar de los hechos, a fin de ayudar a rescatar los cadáveres, pero la petición fue rechazada de inmediato. Ninguno de los cuerpos de los ahogados ha sido rescatado por las autoridades cubanas hasta la fecha, a pesar de que el hundimiento del barco remolcador “13 de Marzo” tuvo lugar en aguas territoriales cubanas.</FONT></SPAN></P>

En cada aniversario del hundimiento, en cada cumpleaños de cada uno de los muertos y cosas asi. Y esto no se podia permitir.</FONT></SPAN></P>
